About Us



Kenneth George Howes FCA

Ken is the sole proprietor of Howes Accounting Services. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and is a registered company auditor.

Ken Howes has been a general practitioner on the Central Coast for 50 years. During that time he has also been heavily involved in local charities and youth work.

The firm offers a wide range of accounting experience, including management and taxation. Ken is well versed in the needs of the small business community.

Current directorships and associations include:
Chairman of the East Gosford Chamber of Commerce
Treasurer and life member of the Central Coast Youth Club which has constructed and manages the Niagara Park $3.5 million sports stadium.
Director of the Franchisee for Bendigo Bank – East Gosford and District Financial Services Ltd: this listed company controls and manages the East Gosford, Lisarow and Kincumber outlets for Bendigo Bank.

Ken is married to Mary, and together they consider their biggest asset to be their 6 children and grandchildren.

Our Team of Experts

The office has a team of qualified accountants with varying degrees of experience in commerce and public practice.

Our team prides itself on its good relationships with our clients, and in particular, the day to day support given to enable them to survive the web of taxation and compliance issues.

This office has assisted in the management, accounting audit and reporting of many varied clients over the past 50 years. A major percentage of our clients are small to medium professional and business people. 

International reporting has included reports to:

Quarterly accounting and annual audit to the UK for an Australian based subsidiary engaged in distributing UK products in Australia.

Monthly reporting to a German based head office which in turn was controlled by a Canadian public company. This company won an Australian design award for design and manufacture and a special BHP award for the use of steel products in manufacture. The company employed in excess of 70 people.

Australian reporting includes enterprises in the service and manufacturing industries. These include:

Annual audit and quarterly departmental accounting and budget services for a service industry company of three divisions with in excess of 100 employees.

Departmental monthly accounting, taxation and management advice for a manufacturer operating in four states with in excess of 70 employees.

Monthly departmental accounting services for a retailer with a turnover in excess of $15m per year including on-going management, taxation and accounting advice.

Audit for a major food manufacturer operating in four states with royalty payments to the USA for volume usage of leased equipment.

Accounting, taxation and management advice including annual accounts for a subsidiary of a major NSW listed public company engaged in manufacture and retail of paper products.


Ken qualified in country NSW and in 1971 moved to the Central Coast as the resident partner of a Sydney based Chartered Accounting practice.

The firm comprised eight partners and a team in excess of forty employees. For many years the Gosford office supported the Sydney Office with their many and varied clients.

In February 2005 Ken established the chartered accounting practice Howes Accounting Services.

Gunnedah Office 

In 2005, following many years of enquiry, the practice established a local office to service the residents of the Gunnedah Shire. The Kelvin Road office is visited on a regular basis for client interview and advice.

The firm policy of a no obligation/no cost interview for first time business and professional clients has proved most popular.

This get to know you time enables the client to assess our practice and services offered and enables the practice to suggest the services available for the client to help the client with the structure and day to day management of their business affairs.

Staff Training

The Howes Accounting Practice is privileged to be part of a Central Coast Training co operative with monthly training sessions for all professional staff at a nominal cost. Sessions include monthly taxation updates and special topics.
